Graece Στροὐθιον, herbae nomen, vulgo Graecorum hodie καλοςτροῦθιν, a pulchritudine scil. et similitudine alarum passeris, quam praefert foliorum situ: floret aestate, grata aspectu, verum sine odore, uti de illa habet Plin. l. 19. c. 3. hinc in coronas expetita, et quidem eas, quae ex uno flore constantes, illius nomen sibi sumebant, Car. Eadem quoque κάθαρσις propterea, hodieque nonnullis Saponaria, appellatur. Quam cum Plinius radiculae nomine insignivit, quae magna est radix, et eam tingere asleruit, quidoquid est quod cum ea decoquitur, cum radicula Syria confudisse convincitur, ex qua mulieres genis rubro fucandis medicamentum olim consiciebant, Salmas. ad Solin. p. 1165.
